The old adage "good things come to those who wait.” As individuals develop further in recovery there becomes less use for the selfishness that was so prevalent during addiction. Gluttony slowly dissipates and individuals learn that making the correct choices can be rewarding and satisfying. Hawaiian culture believes in the philosophy of allowing the wave to come to you.” This perspective can be helpful in recovery and illustrates a surrendering of our will to a higher power. This lesson brings us into harmony with both the world and the people in it.
